Sculptor, born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, who studied at Prague Academy of Fine Arts, Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1939, and Royal College of Art, 1950. After Army service, 1940–5, pursued career making portrait sculptures, figures and monuments. Commissions included Constellation, Colchester, 1953; Joy-Ride, Stevenage New Town, 1958; Fountains, Shell Centre, 1959–61; Mountbatten Memorial in Horse Guards Parade; Winston Churchill statue at Fulton, Missouri; and Lord Cottesloe, at National Theatre. Showed at RA from 1943 and he gained Jean Masson Davidson Award, 1978. Was included in British Sculpture in the Twentieth Century at Whitechapel Art Gallery, 1981–2. Was a fellow of RBS and president of SPS. Lived in Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire.
