Painter and draughtsman, born and lived in Glasgow, who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, 1992–6, gaining his master’s in fine art from Glasgow School of Art, 1996–8. In 1998, Michael had an Artist Residency Asterides – Système Friche, Marseilles, France. Group shows included Olympic Village, Transmission Gallery, Glasgow, 1997; Slipstream, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow, 1998; You Are Very Important, Collective Gallery, Edinburgh, 1999; Red Marauder, Tramway, Glasgow, 2000; and Els Hanappe Underground, Athens, Greece, 2001. Had a first London solo exhibition at Entwistle, 2002. The obsessive and sexually charged works displayed had an underlying unease and tension.
