Mainly self-taught artist. He showed with LG, RA Summer Exhibitions and in Arts Council travelling shows. In 1993 won overall prize for outstanding work in the Sussex Open, Brighton, and was included in The Sussex Scene, Hove Museum of Art/Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne. Had two solo shows at Towner, 1970 and 1987; a solo show at Thackeray Gallery in 1978; two more at Hove, 1980 and 1985; with a retrospective at Newport Museum and Art Gallery, 1995. Chapel Arts Centre, Newhaven, gave Mockford an exhibition, 2003. At the Affordable Art Fair Spring Collection in 2005 Nicholas Bowlby showed new work by Mockford. Hove, the Government Art Collection, the Chantrey Bequest at Tate Gallery hold his work. Mockford painted in and around Eastbourne, Sussex, where he lived for many years.
