Painter and teacher, born in Leyton, Essex. He studied at Hornsey School of Art, 1937–40, where his teachers included Norman Janes and John Charles Moody; at Accrington School of Art, 1941–2; then at the Royal College of Art, 1946–9, with Carel Weight, Edward Bawden and Ruskin Spear. Taught at Eastbourne School of Art, in Sussex, where he lived and was a member of the Society of Artists. Showed in London but principally in Eastbourne, where he had a show at the Towner Art Gallery.
