Inspired by a broken lobster pot from which sea creatures escaped, the sculpture translates into the human story of exodus and escape. Four figures are depicted bursting out through railings.

plaque 1: FLIGHT OF THE LANGOUSTINE 2023 / PIEERE DIAMANTOPOULO MRSS / FOUNDRY: MILWYN CASTING FABRICATION: ART FABRICATIONS; info board: Flight of the Langoustine / by Pierre Diamontopoulo MRSS / The sculpture was inspired by a broken lobster pot, the artist found on Brighton / beach. In his imagination the washed-up cage, from which the sea creatures / escaped, translated itself into a human story of exodus and release – a dash for freedom. / Flight of the langoustine is the second installation for Hove Plinth and was chosen through a public vote. The first sculpture, Constellation by Jonathan / Wright is moving to the Hove Museum of Creativity gardens. / Hove Plinth / Hove Plinth is an arts initiative by Hove Civic Council to bring new public / sculpture to Hove. The project is funded by voluntary contributions.
