A shetani (evil spirit), which is believed by the inhabitants of Zanzibar to have first appeared on the Tanzanian island of Pemba. It can metamorphose from human to animal form, and attacks both sexes and people of all ages. It may produce poltergeist-like phenomena, but the most feared form of its appearance is sexual assault.
