For the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landing, the RAF Museum will be offering a tour for a limited time only, telling the story of the role of the RAF during the D-Day Operations. Explore the varied roles of the RAF during D-Day, from bombing to reconnaissance and logistics. See this story come to live in the Museum’s Hangars 3, 4, 5 among iconic aircraft such as the Avro Lancaster, the Handley Page Halifax and the de Havilland Mosquito. Delivered by our expert volunteer tours guides; they will meet you by the nose of the Lancaster at your tour time. Tickets: £10.00 Location: H345 When?: Sunday 26 May, Tuesday 28 May, Thursday 30 May, Saturday 1 June, Wednesday 5 June and Thursday 6 June. 11:00am and 2.00pm D-DAY WEEKEND 2024 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944, also known as D-Day. At the RAF Museum London, we will be marked this significant anniversary with a weekend long celebration on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2024. MUSICAL PROGRAMME Join us for a weekend of 1940s-themed music with outdoor music and fun. The musical programme will be announced closer to the time. This is free for all and will be taking place from 10am to 5pm outside on the airfield. Featuring such acts as The Barn-Ettes, the English Jazz Orchestra, the London Youth Concert Band, Memory Lane Signing Group and many more. A full musical programme will be announced closer to the time. PARACHUTING FAMILY ACTIVITY The Allies used paratroopers and gliders as part of their D-Day operations. Discover more about D-Day through our range of fun family activities – make and drop your own parachute, build and test fly your own paper glider and enjoy our sketching and colouring activities. SWING DANCING WORKSHOPS Ever wanted to try your hand at Swing Dancing? Now you can! Come and join Swing Dance UK and they teach you how to swing, twirl and groove to the music of the 1940s. Come and experience Swing Dance as well as Big Apple! This is a free and drop-in activity, so come and join us in Hangar 1. Tickets: Free and drop-in! Location: H1, under the Sunderland.
