Ajamu (b. Huddersfield, UK) is a photographic artist, scholar, archive curator and radical sex activist best known for his imagery that challenges dominant ideas around black masculinity, gender, sexuality and representation of black LGBTQ+ people in the United Kingdom. Ajamu's series 'Black Bodyscapes' focuses on the private sexual realities of black gay men, using constructed portraits to examine concepts of fetishism and fragmentation. By exploring the representation of the black male body, in particular the way the notion of blackness as an undifferentiated identity has been radically questioned, these works comment and contest the sexualised stereotypes of the black male body.
